The Meeker Mustang Makeover is looking for young people who love horses and want to train their own mustang.
“The most exciting thing is to see how the kids develop and connect with the horses.”
That’s Dierdre McNab who runs the program each year. Kids get a wild mustang to train.
“These are area wild horses. They get a one-year-old and 120 days to take them from a wild horse to one that wants to do whatever they ask them to do. It will be a summer project that they never forget.”
Horse-loving kids from Rio Blanco, Routt, and Moffat counties are welcome to participate and they’ll get $500 for doing so. All horses will then be auctioned off at the Meeker Mustang Makeover on Saturday, Aug. 26, at the fairgrounds in Meeker. Sign up at MeekerMustangMakeover.com
