A Snow Squall blew through Routt County Tuesday morning with intense bursts of heavy snow that reduced visibility to less than one-quarter mile. There were accidents through Steamboat Springs and the city went on Accident Alert. Some of the chairlifts were on a wind hold at Steamboat Resort.
Verizon is still having problems for many customers in Routt County. I have been on hold for at least five hours, reaching out to nine agents and emailing six people who work with media requesting updates for the area. I’ll let you know. The latest advice is to download the current software update on your phone.

A new group met for the first time Tuesday called STAND, which stands for Steamboat Team to combat Antisemitism and Discrimination. Local leaders from the school district, law enforcement and throughout the Routt County community attended, including interim Steamboat Springs Police Chief Mark Beckett.
“We’re taking the first step to having an organized, educated discussion about antisemitism, about bias-motivated crimes. This is an impressive first step. Now we have to follow through with it.”
Rabbi Kolby Morris-Dahary organized the first meeting to raise awareness of bias and discrimination in our community. There was an incident of anti-semitism and of racism at Steamboat Springs High School in the fall, which prompted Rabbi Kolby to start the group as a space for positivity, hope, and change.

Masks are no longer a requirement at UCHealth Yampa Valley Medical Center in Steamboat Springs, as of today. Masks are now optional at all UCHealth facilities.
Governor Jared Polis has appointed Barbara Vasquez of Cowdrey, Colorado, to the Colorado Water Conservation Board. It is a group created in 1937 for the purpose of aiding in the protection and development of the waters of the state. Cowdrey is in Jackson County.

SEVEN BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS ARE LOOKING FOR MEMBERS
The Steamboat Sailors will advance to the semi-finals of the CHSAA State Hockey Playoffs after a big double OT win last night over Kent Denver. Final score was 3-2 with senior Landon Smith sinking in the winner. The semi-finals are Saturday at the Broadmoor World Arena in Colorado Springs. The Sailors are matched up against Cheyenne Mountain High School in a rematch of last year’s Frozen 4 game.
