SSWSC Snowboard Athletes Qualify to Compete in USASA Nationals at Copper Mountain
Over 30 SSWSC athletes are competing at Copper Mountain
STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. – SSWSC has announced that over 30 snowboard athletes have qualified to compete in the USASA Nationals at Copper Mountain from April 1-6, 2023. Athletes qualified based on their results during a series of competitions throughout the winter in their home region. SSWSC competes in the Rocky Mountain series, which is one of the most difficult series in the country featuring snowboard’s top talent. SSWSC encourages riders to compete in various disciplines such as alpine racing, snowboardcross, slopestyle, halfpipe, and rail jam to diversify their competition experience. Many successful Olympians like Cody Winters and Mick Dierdorff started their careers through USASA. This year, the USASA Nationals will be held at Copper Mountain. Athletes from 29 regions across North America will compete against the top-qualified talents. Riders have the opportunity to compete in and qualify for up to three events to qualify. SSWSC athletes returning from Junior Worlds will compete at USASA Nationals at Copper Mountain. Walker Overstake, Mike Smith, and Sam Carpenter will compete in the snowboard parallel slalom and parallel giant slalom events, and Christian Blight, Virginia Boyd, Tatum Lightner, and Walker Overstake will compete in snowboardcross. SSWSC alums Cody Winters, Myles Silverman, and Cannon Diradour will also be competing.

BOARDERCROSS: Kellan Barella, Madden Matuga, Adam Lilly, Thomas Halberg, Andrew Clemmons, Cooper Malia, Bode Wellstone, Ava Lilly, Conner Peterson, and Trevon Shoemaker.
GIANT SLALOM: Burak Bikiroglu, Madden Matuga, Phineas Walters, Summit Lynch, Ellis Eavenson, Antonio Giannola, Isaac Weinberg, Andrew Clemmons, and Cooper Malia
HALFPIPE: Kellan Barella, Ruby White, Jackson Helberg, Ellis Eavenson, Phineas Walters, Antonio Giannola, Reed Van Ness, Ava Lilly, Mason Boatner, and Parson Cotter.
SLALOM: Burak Bikiroglu, Madden Matuga, Beckett Patch, Ellis Eavenson, Luke Feyen, Benji Simbeye, Antonio Giannola, Jackson Helberg, Phineas Walters, Thomas Halberg, Andrew Clemmons, Isaac Weinberg, and Cooper Malia.
SLOPESTYLE: Kellan Barella, Madden Matuga, Brooklyn Einfeld, Summit Lynch, Jake Einfeld, Reed Van Ness, and Ava Lilly.
RAIL JAM: Parson Cotter, Reed Van Ness, and Mason Boatner.
Other SSWSC snowboard athletes who qualified but are not competing are Riley McNew for slalom, Sam Erland for halfpipe, Lincoln Drury for giant slalom, Tyson Trussel for giant slalom and Chase Demos for halfpipe, slopestyle, slalom and giant slalom.
