The Final Draft Wolf Restoration and Management Plan is being presented in Steamboat Springs today by the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Wolf Commission. One item is about lethal management, which is the 10J Rule. Local legislators at the State Capitol have introduced a bill that would say it has to be in place before wolves are reintroduced. Ranchers are for it. Environmental groups and the Department of Natural Resources are against it.
Here’s Colorado Senator Perry Will, who is a co-sponsor of the bill.
“It’s critical for the management of gray wolves in Colorado that we have this 10J. I can’t express that any louder or clearer, that we have to have 10J for the management of wolves in Colorado.”
The meeting is all day at Colorado Mountain College.
