A resident of Alpenglow Village apartments has finally received a key to a cluster box mailbox on the property. Alma has lived there two and a half years. Management of the complex and Yampa Valley Housing Authority have been asking the U.S. Postal Service to set up the cluster boxes since the apartments were built two-and-a-half years ago. Tuesday was the first day that a resident received a key. All other residents have been notified that they can get their keys to their free post office box on the property any time they want.

U.S. Senator John Hickenlooper says fixed anchors for rock climbing in National Parks have to stay. Senator Hickenlooper has written a letter to the Department of the Interior that bolts, pitons and other safety equipment for rock climbers needs to stay affixed. The agency is currently developing official guidance on fixed equipment use in wilderness areas.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife is reminding outdoor enthusiasts of responsible outdoor recreation. A few tips include to know the weather and be prepared for changing weather conditions. Stay hydrated. Stick to the trails. Keep wildlife wild by not feeding or approaching young or sick or injured wildlife. Be aware of bears. Keep your dogs leashed. Leave it as you find it, meaning don’t damage anything in nature. And take all of your trash out with you.
