Watch for rising water. The National Weather Service says use caution near or on waterways as seasonal flow volumes remain well above normal. Water levels will continue to run high until further notice because of the above normal snowpack in the high country. Warm weather today and tomorrow will result in higher volumes of water in Northwest Colorado. More rain, like Sunday night, is in the forecast again on Wednesday and Thursday. But did you see that double rainbow?

Teen Safety Week begins today. It’s for teenagers and their families to help bring awareness to the social challenges teens face, and help provide tools and resources available in the community. Today’s focus is on the dangers of driving impaired, while under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol, especially during prom and graduation season. Here’s Patty Oakland with the Steamboat Springs Police Department.
“It’s important to not drive impaired or distracted, avoid misuse and abuse of substances, seeking support for your mental well-being, and encouraging healthy relationships. Know we care about each of you and are thankful to have you as a part of the Yampa Valley.”
Always have a plan to get a safe ride home and never get in a car with a driver who may be under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. Parents, create a driving agreement with your teens and let them know you care.
Prom at Steamboat Springs High School is this Saturday. Then there’s After Prom, starting at midnight. This is where students enjoy a safe, drug- and alcohol-free event after their prom. The local After Prom committee is looking for donations from the community, which are tax deductible. They have a Go Fund Me Link or donations can be dropped off or mailed to the high school. Volunteers are also needed for Friday night set-up, for After Prom, and for clean-up on Sunday. That link is on our website. Then Saturday night, stop by the high school between 7-9 p.m. to see the festivities before the kids arrive.
