The record snowfall this season resulted in an all-time high of 67.4 million skier visits to U.S. resorts. This is according to the National Ski Areas Association. Colorado Sun reports it broke last year’s record of 61 million skier visits.
Water is going over the spillway at the dam at Stagecoach State Park. The heavy snowpack this winter is filling up the reservoir which has been very low the past few years. The last time it went over the spillway at Stagecoach was in 2019/2020.
The Yampa Valley Regional Airport is developing a Terminal Area Plan. It will be a 20-year blueprint for the future layout, improvements, and expansion of the Airport’s terminal facilities. The plan will recommend improvements to accommodate the recent and expected future growth as well as enhance the airport experience for passengers. It focuses on the terminal area, and parking lots. There is a public meeting from 5:30-7:30 this Thursday on the plan at the new Routt County Health and Human Services building on 6th Street.
Don’t leave your pets in a hot car. Unattended animals in a hot vehicle or unattended animals at all are considered animal cruelty. Both are violations of city code in Steamboat Springs as it puts pets in a dangerous situation.
Animal Control reminds owners that is illegal to leave a dog unattended on public property, even if a dog is secured by a leash, cord, or chain. A person convicted of a violation may pay a fine up to $100. More importantly, your dog is at a higher risk to be stolen.
The Town of Yampa postmaster, Teri Lynch is retiring. There is a send off for her at 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, at the Ladies Aid Hall in Yampa.
