The boat ramp at Loudy-Simpson Park is now open. Moffat County is reminding people that the Yampa River is still running very high and fast, and to use caution when entering and exiting the water.

For those recreating on the mountain, Why Not Road has closures scheduled through the summer. It’s due to construction traffic for lift installation of Mahogany Ridge Express and the second leg of the Wild Blue Gondola. No bikes or pedestrians are allowed on Why Not Road (FS-321) from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, through Sept. 30.

Young drivers are the focus of a new CDOT cannabis campaign. Colorado Department of Transportation has a campaign called, “Drive High, Get a DUI.” It focuses on telling drivers ages 15 to 20 about the dangers of driving while impaired on marijuana. It is illegal in Colorado for anyone under 21 to consume marijuana.

“This year especially taught me what it means to be a servant leader. Leadership is not a title or position like most of us subconsciously think it is. Leadership is about serving other people. We got to learn that this year as a state officer team. We had to put our biggest smiles on but we had to make sure we’re serving the people around us.”

Rossi has been at the Colorado FFA Agricultural Education Convention in Pueblo this week. Rossi has served for a year as the FFA state treasurer. Her parents also served on the state board for FFA. She’s headed to the University of Wyoming in the fall, on the Daniels Fund scholarship.

Steamboat Sailor Track and Field Coach Lisa Renee Tumminello organized the camp. Of the 192 kids participating, 70 are in middle school, and there are 38 high school students helping with coaching. Some adult volunteers are also helping coach the camp. More pictures are on the Steamboat Radio Facebook page.
