Burgess Creek at the base of Steamboat Ski Resort is getting cleaned up. The rocks are being washed to remove all of the sediment that has built up on the rocks, since the creek was opened up at the base ten years ago.
Steamboat Resort spokesperson Loryn Duke says they will do this more frequently moving forward, for the health of the creek.
The rocks are being cleaned in sections. Right now, the lower portion is being done, and the ski area hopes to have that part of the lower beach open as soon as possible. The upper portion and the Burgess Creek Beach are all now open to the public.
Also, if you do ride the gondola up the mountain, you’ll see all of the towers ready to be installed for the second leg of the Wild Blue Gondola, and also the new Mahogany Ridge Express which will expand the resort 655 acres. Duke says, “Crews have been hard at work and we are on track for our Phase III Full Steam Ahead projects.”
