“Working as a part of a team to do good things. Having the experience of watching kids, just try new things and have a blast and enjoy their kids and enjoy their coaches. Howelsen Hill is amazing and the club is a great organization.”

Sarah Floyd’s last day is June 30.

The Steamboat Streets Division crews are repainting crosswalks all over town. They are a bit behind because of the rainy weather, but they’re getting it done so watch for them, and give them space. Also follow any detours.

The city’s Public Works department also contracted a group to clean up the scoria along Mt. Werner Circle and at the new roundabout.

Work is being done at Steamboat Springs Middle School. Improvements are being made to the front exterior of the building. Also, the gradient is being reduced of the exiting road in the parking lot. It will be easier for vehicles to get up the hill.

The rocks in Burgess Creek at the base of Steamboat Ski Resort are being washed to remove all of the sediment that has built up on the rocks, since the creek was opened up at the base ten years ago. The upper portion rocks in Burgess Creek have been cleaned and it is open. The lower portion rocks are being cleaned now and it should open soon. Steamboat Resort spokesperson Loryn Duke says they will do this more frequently moving forward, for the health of the creek.

The state is cracking down on anyone who drives in the Express Lanes when they’re closed. This is on the I-70 Mountain Corridor. Cross the line and pay the fine. It’s a new technology that can read your license plate so you’ll get a ticket in the mail. Starting on Wednesday, it will just be a warning. Then on July 21, it’s a ticket and fine.

This is the first full day of summer. State park visitors are being reminded to be a steward for Colorado’s land, wildlife and water. This includes things like know the weather before you go. Be safe on the water by wearing a life vest. Pack it in and pack it out and use that trash can. Keep wildlife wild by not approaching or feeding wildlife. And be careful with fire.
