The Yampa River is open for tubing. But the City of Steamboat Springs says the water is still moving fast and it is still very cold. The city also says to wear the appropriate gear, like a life vest and helmet. Wear river shoes and not flip flops. And always rig to flip. There is also a ban on disposable containers on the river. Follow the lead of the local tubing outfitters as far as safety on the river right now.
TIME FOR TUBING… technically

Pedestrian fatalities hit an all-time high in 2022, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation, when 111 people were killed on Colorado roads. Pedestrians are reminded to stay on sidewalks when available, cross streets at crosswalks or intersections, and stay off your phone when crossing the street. Lincoln Avenue has signs at 6th and 10th, that say “Pedestrian Cross at Signal Only.” For drivers, follow the speed limit, watch for pedestrians and cyclists, stop before a crosswalk, be especially careful at night, and respect pedestrians as equal roadway users.

If you are headed west on Hwy 40, and you hit the town of Dinosaur, you’ll also be hitting thousands of Mormon Crickets. The crunchy critters are all over the road and in the town and basically invading everywhere in western Moffat County right now. Mormon crickets are a form of katydid and can cause widespread damage to agriculture. They don’t fly but they can still travel about a mile and a half a day.
