Susan Peterson has been named as the new Executive Director for STARS, which is Steamboat Adaptive Recreational Sports.

“I am just thrilled to be able to lead this organization into the future. I’ve had such a great few years being the development director, and now I have the trust of the board to be the director.”

Peterson was chosen after a nationwide search. She says plans include expanding the use of STARS ranch and enhancing their equestrian program.

STARS will be holding an open house at the Zen Equine Ranch from 5-7 p.m. July 20, to meet Peterson and the STARS staff.

Routt County Treasurer Lane Iacovetto has been accredited as a certified Colorado County Treasurer and Public Trustee. The program is one that works to improve best practice standards for county treasurers throughout the State of Colorado. It enhances the professionalism and productivity of members to better serve their offices and the public.

 

Demolition starts today on the playground at Brooklyn Park near the Brooklyn neighborhood on River Road in Steamboat Springs. A new state-of-the-art playground structure is being put in this fall. There will be two play areas for different age groups. There will also be sidewalk, a new irrigation system, and landscaping improvements in the park. The Brooklyn Park project should be finished in early October.

 

Seminars at Steamboat tonight, presents Wendy Weiser. She is the Vice President for Democracy at the Brennan Center for Justice at New York University’s School of Law. The topic is: “Elections on the Brink: Where we are and where we need to go to ensure fairness and integrity.” All seminars are free and non-partisan and open to the public. It starts at 5:30 p.m. at Strings Music Pavilion in Steamboat Springs.

 

 

Denver may have had Taylor Swift, but Steamboat Springs had the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band Sunday night.

It was a sold out show at Strings Music Pavilion. Strings Music Festival has a full summer line-up through August with includes Outdoor Yoga with Classical Music, and also Music on the Green which is at Yampa River Botanic Park. You can see it at StringsMusicFestival.com
