Five-time Olympic Gold Medalist Missy Franklin is in Steamboat Springs. She stopped by the Old Town Hot Springs pool to see the swim team kids at practice. That’s when she learned that the pool will be closed for nine months, starting in late August. This was first reported by Steamboat Radio News in February. The story was then picked up by the Denver television networks.
“We just wanted to pop on here and say if you’re a local in the area, and if you have a pool that you are willing to lend for the swimmers to come and train, so that they can keep doing what they love and pursuing their dreams, we would just be so grateful for the opportunity. You guys can message me, reach out, I can pass along information to Zoe, her coach, or her team, but we would just be so grateful.”
Missy Franklin says in an Instagram post that she just bought a place in Steamboat so she said, “We’re locals now.” Franklin has 304K followers on Instagram.
