Yampa Valley Electric wants to let people know about some door-to-door sales that they are not associated with, that are happening in Steamboat Springs and possibly the surrounding areas. It is from a company selling solar called Brite Solar. YVEA reports that one of the pieces of information they are showing people has a screenshot from the Yampa Valley Electric website showing the recent press release of the partnership with Guzman. YVEA says they are not associated with these door-to-door salespeople or their installers, and neither is Guzman.
YVEA knows this is happening because the salespeople for the solar company stopped at the home of the YVEA Public Relations Specialist Thursday night.
“YVEA highly recommends that members be diligent with any person or company they engage with when it comes to solar installations. For more information on solar, including installers who have gone through YVEA’s qualified solar installer program, please visit https://www.yvea.com/member-solar”
UPDATE Friday afternoon. Steamboat Radio News spoke with Tallen Tipton, a co-owner of Go Brite Solar. He says that the YVEA/Guzman press release that his sales people have is to show that energy rates are being increased. He says, “It paints them (YVEA) in a good light.” He says they are very clear with all of their sales representatives to say they do not work with local power suppliers. He says their sales people are only going to a pre-qualified list of homes that would work for solar. Tallen says his company represents the Western Slope, based out of Grand Junction. They will also be going to homes in Craig and Hayden to talk to people about getting solar for their homes lined up before the winter.
