This past weekend, Perry Mansfield Performing Arts Camp wrapped up their summer intensive youth artist program with a dance performance followed by a production of Matilda Jr. The Friday and Saturday night shows featured the program’s 37 total students ages 12-15. The students studied at Perry Mansfield for four weeks, and came from all over the nation to study at Steamboat’s historic 110-year-old performing arts camp.

The five contemporary and ballet pieces featured the program’s 13 dance students.

Dancers perform in a piece titled Parsons Etude, originally choreographed by David Parson, staged and directed by Erika Pujic

Dancers perform in a piece titled 21212123, choreographed by llana Goldman

Dancers perform in a piece titled Dusk to Dawn, choreographed by Tamara Dyke Comptom and Christopher Compton, directors of dance at Perry Mansfield. This piece also featured live pianist Robert LeGendre.

Dancers perform in a piece titled Interrupted Beat, choreographed by Whitney Popp.

Following the dance performance was a production of Matilda Jr., featuring the program’s 24 theater students and directed by Jamey Grisham. Petra Danek played the role of Matilda, with Audrey Trask as Miss Honey, and King Bell as Agatha Trunchbull.

This was the last session of youth camp for the summer. The next group coming in are the professionals, who are 18+ years old.
