Improvements Slated For Bear River Bike & Skate Parks
Local Youth Encouraged to Join Newly Formed Project Design Team
STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-August 3, 2023-The City of Steamboat Springs Parks & Recreation Department is in the initial stages of redesign and expansion of the bike and skate parks at Bear River Park. “We are really looking forward to the additions and improvements that are planned for Bear River Park”, stated Matt Barnard, Parks & Recreation Development Manager. “The new skate park will mirror the existing design with concrete bowls and smooth terrain, while the bike park will include a bike skills park with obstacles to foster youth and new rider development”.
Calling all bikers and skaters! Parks & Recreation is looking for community voices from youth and young adults to join the design team and guide the park expansion and improvements project. A steering committee made up of designers from Team Pain Skate Parks, city staff, and youth design team members will meet later this month to discuss concepts for the reimagined parks.
