The American Legion Leo Hill Post 44 in Steamboat Springs donated $50,000 Thursday night to the Veterans Center building to be renovated in Steamboat Springs. The vote was unanimous among the dues-paying members of the local American Legion.
The new Veterans Center of Northwest Colorado is going to be historically renovated and become a resource center for all veterans and their families and a community gathering place for Steamboat organizations. The building at 924 Lincoln Ave. in downtown Steamboat Springs was built in 1898. The group is trying to raise $3 million.
The Veterans Center’s purpose is to serve veterans, their generational family members, local community members, and visitors in Northwest Colorado by maintaining a prominent location in Steamboat Springs where all can celebrate a legacy of service to our country, concern for our veterans, and commitment to our community.
