Routt County Sheriff’s Officers were called to a single vehicle crash Monday night at Routt County Roads 35 and 41 near Big Valley. The sheriff’s office says it involved two juveniles. One was taken to the hospital. Routt County Undersheriff Josh Carrell said the car caught on fire but it was put out by the time law enforcement arrived. A local water truck assisted with extinguishing the flames. Carrell says no alcohol was involved. Thank you to one of our loyal listeners for sharing the pictures with Steamboat Radio News.

The two most recent additions to the Craig Police Force graduated from the police academy in June. They are doing Field Officer Training for 12 weeks and should be released for full-time duty in the next couple of months.”
The building at 743 Oak Street in Steamboat Springs has received the official plaque as an historic designation. Arienthe Stettner prepared the nomination of the building on behalf of Historic Routt County.
“Being listed on the Steamboat Springs Historic Register is not only an honor because the property is documented for prosperity but because the property has some protections.”
The building was built in 1918. It is protected from demolition, inappropriate changes, and it receives some tax credits and benefits. It now houses the Community Ag Alliance and several other non-profits.
