United Way of the Yampa Valley celebrated its merger of the Routt and Moffat County United Way offices with gatherings in Steamboat Springs and Craig. Nathan Browning works for Tri-State and is on the United Way Board for Moffat County. He will join the combined board which will have 20 members, on Sept. 1.
“I think joining Moffat County and Routt County United Ways means a lot for Moffat county. It will give us strength. It will give us more resources, and it will just give us more expansion in the Yampa Valley.”
Kate Nowak will continue as Director and Chief Operating Officer for United Way of the Yampa Valley, which will combine resources to serve the needs of Moffat, Routt, and Rio Blanco counties.
“The merger is great for both all three counties because there is a lot of need and we have a lot of expertise to spread over all three counties. And we have great staff and we’ll work with agencies and with business and government to make a difference in people’s lives.”
Nowak says the new United Way of the Yampa Valley will honor “Donor Designations” meaning you can pick which community or group your donation goes to. Moffat County will also now have an Endowment Fund available. The merger goes into effect Sept. 1.
Events coming up include some fundraising on Sept. 14. It’s 50K Day in Routt County and 20K Day in Moffat County, both at the Yampa Valley Bank in each community.
