Moffat County has been awarded $30,142 from the Colorado Secretary of State’s Office. It is specifically from the Electronic Recording Technology Board, to be used to help with licensing and maintenance costs for Moffat County’s digital recording technologies, and to upgrade server security for digitized documents. The board that gave the money was created in 2016 with the mission of developing, maintaining, improving, replacing, or preserving land records systems in our state.
The new Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club bus is pulling into town around 4 p.m. today, over at Howelsen Hill. The 77-passenger bus will be used for getting kids from school to Howelsen Hill for training. The bus project was made possible by a generous grant from the Lennox Foundation and with the guidance and support of George and Barbara Eidsness and Transwest Truck Trailer RV.
In Steamboat Springs High School Homecoming festivities, the Sailor Soccer team tied with Battle Mountain last night, 5-5. The Sailors were down by three with 12 minutes to go and they came back to tie it. Will Haden had a hat trick and Charlie Riesman and Jeffrey Sturges each had a goal.
The Sailors Homecoming parade is this afternoon on Oak and Pine Streets.
There is a Homecoming Tailgate Party at 5 p.m. today and all are invited. Then the football game for the Steamboat Sailors against Eaton. It starts at 7 p.m. at Gardner Field. Listen or watch through SteamboatRadio.com
Soroco’s Homecoming game was Thursday night. The Rams had a tough loss to West Grand from Kremmling, 74-6.
Homecoming Royalty was recognized at halftime. This year’s Homecoming Queen is Anna Rushton. Homecoming King is Alan Mayer.
“So I think the school spirit at Soroco is unmatched. It’s definitely a good happy feeling to have to know that people around here care about you. They voted for you so it’s nice to know that people wanted to vote for me.”

Cheers to 30 years for the Rocky Mountain Youth Corps. They’re having a big celebration on Sept. 30, to celebrate 30 years of impact to youth, communities, and the great outdoors. It’s called “A Toast to Trails & Tales.” It’s from 4:30-9 p.m. at the Steamboat Grand Hotel Ballroom on that Saturday, Sept. 30. Tickets are for sale through the RockyMountainYouthCorps.org website, for individuals or you can be a table sponsor. There will be a live auction with lots of toasts and stories to tell. The Hayden Granary Community Barn Dance is Saturday night, starting at 6:30 p.m. There is a suggested donation of $10 per adult and $5 per kid at the door.

The Community Ag Alliance is hosting their final ranch tour of the year. It’s a tour of the family-run Hayden Fresh Farm which is the largest egg producer in the Yampa Valley. Michelle and Colby Townsend also raise meat birds, pork, and veggies. The tour is from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Sept. 30. Tickets are available through www.CommunityAgAlliance.org
The 3rd annual Haven Octoberfest in Hayden is from 4-6:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, at the Haven Community Center. It’s a family-friendly event for the entire community with live music from Apple Pie Order, food from the American Legion, and beer garden from Yampa Valley Brewing Company, corn hole, outdoor games, pumpkin decorating, and lots of homemade goodies. Sponsorships are available for the event, and appreciated. All proceeds benefit The Haven, a non-profit assisted living community for adults 55 and older. Alpine Bank in Steamboat Springs is hosting a Fall Shred Event for any papers you want shredded. It is a drive-through at the bank, from 10 a.m. to noon. Bring up to four boxes from your home or business. Donations are being accepted which would benefit the Yampa Valley Sustainability Council.
The Steamboat Tennis and Pickleball Center has an evening planned called “Serve and Sip with Seppi.” It’s from 2-5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30. It features Andreas Seppi, Richard Johnson, and actress Carla Manzi.
The Senior Social Center of Craig is hosting a Wine Tasting event. It includes live music, local artwork, and some charcuterie boards. It’s from 6-9 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30 at The Yampa Building in Craig. Tickets are $25, available at the Craig Chamber, Senior Social Center of Craig, and Downtown Books. The 14th annual Re-Tree community-wide tree planting event is Saturday, Sept. 30 and Saturday, Oct. 7. Trees are being planted to help with the Yampa River Forest Restoration Program in partnership with the City of Steamboat Springs. Yampa Valley Sustainability Council is organizing volunteers. About 200 trees will be planted on the firs Saturday on County Road 22. The second planting day is at the Nature Conservancy’s Carpenter Ranch near Hayden. Volunteers get a T-shirt designed by local artist Jill Bergman, and food. Sign up through YVSC.org The project aims to increase shade along the river to reduce water temperatures, improve riparian habitat, and sequester carbon.
Yampa Valley Soccer Fest is this Sunday at Dry Creek Park in Hayden. This is for any and all kids ages three to 19 years old from throughout the Yampa Valley. The first 300 kids who show up get a soccer ball. There will be carnival games, food trucks, music, prizes, face painting, soccer and a lot more and it’s all free. The Yampa Valley Soccer Fest is from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
