The big new blue Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club bus has arrived. It pulled into the parking lot at Howelsen Hill Friday afternoon.
The 77-passenger bus is to be used for getting kids from school to Howelsen Hill for training, starting Oct. 9. Sign up to ride the bus.
John Nolting is the Chief Operating Officer for the club.
“This really helps the club with our goals for accessibility, allowing kids in the community who have a hard time accessing our programs, now make that trip from schools to Howelsen Hill, really helps us reach our mission of being a community club accessible to everybody.”
The bus project was made possible by a generous grant from the Lennox Foundation and with the guidance and support of George and Barbara Eidsness and Transwest Truck Trailer RV.
The bus doesn’t yet have a name. There is a contest to name the SSWSC bus. Submit your ideas here.
A bus driver is also needed. SSWSC says here are the top three reasons to do it:
- GET YOUR FIRST TRACKS OR POWDER DAY with a flexible schedule.
- DRIVE A FUTURE OLYMPIAN.
- WE PAY FOR TRAINING.
You’ll also get a discount on athlete programs fees. Apply here
