Watch for some closures along Lincoln Ave., starting Tuesday morning. Holidays lights will be going up.

On Tuesday, the right-hand and parking lane of eastbound Lincoln will be closed starting at 6 a.m., while workers put up lights from 12th to 3rd. On Wednesday, it’s the same thing but headed west on Hwy 40.

Here is the press release from the City of Steamboat Springs; Sept. 27, 2023.

It’s Starting To Feel Like Winter with Holiday Lights Installation

One Lane Lincoln Avenue Closure Planned for October 3 & 4 between 6am to 4pm

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-September 27, 2023-A one-lane closure of Lincoln Avenue will occur over two days in early October for the installation of the traditional holiday lights in the trees on both sides of the main downtown thoroughfare. The lights are replaced annually to maintain tree health.

Mainstreet Steamboat manages the holiday lights through funding from the city along Lincoln Avenue and has contracted with SAVATREE to install the holiday lights in all the trees along both sides of the avenue.

The right-hand and parking lane of eastbound Lincoln Avenue will be closed on Tuesday, October 3, starting at approximately 6 a.m. with crews working from 12th to 3rd Streets. The following day, Wednesday, October 4, the closure shifts to the right-hand and parking lane going westbound from 3rd to 12th Streets. The work and closure are expected to be completed around 4pm each day, pending no weather delays.

Traffic Control Specialists (TCS) will be executing the traffic control plan during the closure. CDOT has approved the permit for the project.

Steamboat Springs Transit operations will continue as normal during the lane closures.
