The Iron Fire in Moffat County is at 50% containment as of Monday afternoon. There hasn’t been any recent growth as of the last update. The Iron Fire has burned about 7,300 acres, about 18 miles northwest of Craig.

You may see smoke in southern Jackson County, if you are traveling that way. The fire/fuels staff with Routt National Forest is doing a prescribed burn near Slack-Weiss Reservoir. It’s about 360 acres, 21 miles south of Walden, and 10 miles west of Rand. Those prescribed burns depend on the weather.
The Routt County Board of County Commissioners meets Tuesday. One item on the agenda is the award for renovations of the outdoor arena at the Routt County Fairgrounds. The cost is not to exceed $429,135. Agenda
County Commissioners from Moffat, Routt, and Grand counties are meeting via ZOOM Tuesday to discuss the budget for the District Attorney’s office in the 14th Judicial District.
Also Tuesday, the Moffat County Board of County Commissioners will hold a workshop with Kate Nowak, who is the Executive Director of United Way of the Yampa Valley.

You are invited to a Terminal Area Plan (TAP) discussion for Yampa Valley Regional Airport. It’s from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 3, at the airport, in the 2nd floor conference room. Airport staff will be there to answer questions about the 20-year conceptual development plan, and funding sources for it.
A new non-profit service has started up in Steamboat Springs to help with medical health, specifically rehabilitation and recovery after injury. Rebecca Williams is the founder and executive director of Community Fit.
“We are hoping that this reaches people of all ages, and a wide variety of different health issues. Essentially, we’re really just trying to provide services that bridge a gap in care. So when their doctor recommends a specific service or rehabilitation plan, we are here to help the client implement it.”

The dress theme for the Bulldogs today is Pink Day. Wednesday is Dress Like your Favorite Barbie or Ken. Thursday is Bulldog Spirit. Tuesday is Twin Day. Wednesday is Ken v. Barbie with Macho Volleyball at 7 p.m. Thursday is Icon Barbie Dress up Day. The freshmen dress up as Weird Barbie and Allen, Sophomores are Futuristic Space. Juniors are Disco Barbie. Seniors are Western Barbie. Teachers are Holiday Barbie. Then the Bonfire is at 8 p.m. Thursday. Friday is Pink Power. The parade is at 1 p.m. and the football game is at 7 p.m. There’s more volleyball on Saturday morning. Wear pink as it is a Pink Out Game. Then the Homecoming Dance is Saturday night.
For Pre-K through 8th grade, it’s Twin Day where you dress like a friend or favorite teacher. Tuesday is Pink Day. Wednesday is Dress Like your Favorite Barbie or Ken. Thursday is Bulldog Spirit.
The kids in Hayden are dressed up today as Nerds vs. Jocks, also known as Jerseys or Suspenders for Homecoming. The Powder Puff football game is tonight at 7 p.m. Wednesday is Pink Out day. And Thursday is School Pride with Tiger Gear. The Pep Rally is Thursday afternoon and the parade is at 3 p.m. Friday is WHITE OUT day with volleyball starting at 3 p.m. and the football game at 7 p.m. The Tigers are playing Vail Christian. There is a Hayden High School alumni celebration from 6-7 p.m. in the school commons.
The Moffat County Bulldogs Girls Volleyball team is headed to Steamboat Springs to play the Sailors tonight. The varsity games start at 6:30 p.m.

Wednesday, Oct. 4, is Walk and Roll to School Day. Kids are encouraged to walk or ride their bikes safely to school. It’s part of International Walk to School Day, and it’s being organized by the Colorado Department of Transportation.
