SCREAMBOAT Chamber of Horror at Colorado Mountain College in Steamboat Springs is back for another year this weekend, with frightening fixtures and maniac monsters and morques, zombies, gravestones, and much more. This is the 24th year for the SCREAMBOAT Halloween production at CMC.
Paul McCudden gave us the tour. He is the Professor of Physical Science and chair of the department.
“It has turned into a Steamboat tradition and we enjoy entertaining people in town, and students, and raising money to take students on education trips, which we do in the spring, with the proceeds.”
McCudden says throughout the year everything is stored in containers in sheds, a shipping container, and garages. They have a lot of props and material and they are always collecting more.
McCudden says they expect to have about 20-30 students helping with Screamboat this year, and a few adults.
“It’s a lot of work. It’s a whole month’s worth of preparation. But it’s worth it to see the fun that people have when they come here.”
The Screamboat Chamber of Horror is from 6-10 p.m. at the CMC Steamboat campus, on Friday, Saturday, and Halloween night. (Oct. 27, 28 and Oct. 31)
Screamboat in is CMC’s Albright Auditorium, 1275 Crawford Ave. Tickets are $10 with a CMC Student ID or $20 without. Those 12 and under should be accompanied by an adult.
Here is a list of Halloween activities happening throughout Northwest Colorado this year.
