Alpine Bank in Steamboat Springs is hosting a day for Routt County Veterans Thursday. It is to bring attention to the renovation of The Veterans Center building in downtown Steamboat Springs. Look for the tent out front of Alpine Bank all day on Thursday.

“These veterans in our community have done so much for us and we’re glad to be able to stand up and help them right back.”
People also dropped off old and damaged flags that were ready for retirement.
The Veterans Center’s purpose is to serve veterans, their generational family members, local community members, and visitors in Northwest Colorado by maintaining a prominent location in Steamboat Springs where all can celebrate a legacy of service to our country, concern for our veterans, and commitment to our community.

Veterans Day is Saturday, Nov. 11. Here are some things happening around Routt County.
The VFW, American Legion, and Warhorse Ranch invite you to West End Sports Grill at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10 to honor local veterans and celebrate the 248th Marine Corps Birthday. The time honored tradition of the Marine Corps Birthday will be presented by the Marines of Warhorse Ranch. There will be a 50/50 raffle and other prizes. All proceeds will go directly to the veteran programs at Warhorse Ranch. The VFW and American Legion will also be accepting donations. All veterans and community members are invited. This is a great chance to meet your local veterans and hear their stories in person.
Veterans will be at The Veterans Center in downtown Steamboat Springs all day Saturday, Nov. 11. That’s at 924 Lincoln Ave. All are invited to stop by at 924 Lincoln Ave. to see why this place is so special as a place to serve veterans, their generational family members, local community members and visitors.

Enjoy complimentary baked goods, a bowl of chili or a cup of coffee and some lively conversation with local veterans. They’ll be showing classic movies, ranging from Patton to Lone Survivor all day. While there, learn about the history and future of this historic building.
Veterans are invited to stop by Emerald Coffee today through Sunday for a free cookie and cup of coffee, in honor of Veterans Day. Emerald Coffee is at 700 Yampa Street in downtown Steamboat Springs.
Members of American Legion Post 44 and VFW Post 4264 will be at Steamboat Ace Hardware from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. to give out poppies to commemorate Veterans Day, in recognition of all veterans and their service and sacrifice to preserve our independence and freedoms.
All veterans and spouses of South Routt County are invited to a free Veterans Day lunch. It’s from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11, at the Oak Creek Fire Station, 131 E. Main Street. The luncheon is hosted by Routt County Cattlewomen.
The Hayden FFA Chapter is also honoring local veterans and their families at 11 a.m. on Saturday, at the school in Hayden.
