Steven O’Brien will be advised in Routt County Court today. He is the 65-year-old man from Littleton who was allegedly involved in a deadly crash just west of Steamboat Springs in late July, that killed local pre-school teacher Emily Tintrup Dealy. She was a passenger in a truck allegedly hit by O’Brien, who was booked in the Routt County Jail Friday, but was released. Charges expected to be filed today include two felony counts of vehicular homicide, possession of a weapon while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, reckless endangerment, drove a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, and careless driving causing body injury.
In the state football playoffs…
Moffat County Bulldogs did it! They beat #4 ranked Berthoud, 14-13, to advance now to the quarterfinals of the 2A CHSAA State Football Playoffs.

The #12 ranked Bulldogs will have to continue making big upsets to advance, as they play #1 ranked and undefeated Delta at 1 p.m. this Saturday. That game will be in Delta. Listen on 93.7 KRAI.
Also in football, Little Snake River lost a tough one in the 1A 6-man Wyoming State Championships Saturday, losing 39-42 to Burlington High School.
The Routt County Board of County Commissioners meets Tuesday morning, Nov. 14. The meeting starts at 9:30 a.m.
Routt County Commissioner Tim Redmond is the recipient of the 2023 Edie Award from the Economic Development Council of Colorado. Redmond was chosen as the Volunteer of the Year.
Commissioner Tim Redmond was selected as this year’s ‘Volunteer of the Year’ for his achievements in the following activities:
- Demonstrated exceptional leadership in economic development for a three-county region, leading efforts to reconstitute an intergovernmental agreement to address the devastating economic and social impacts from a coalmine shutdown.
- Advocates for regionalism, bridging trust gaps with neighboring counties, building collaborative relationships to tackle economic diversification and resiliency; workforce development; affordability housing; access to child care; and regional transportation.
- Commissioner Redmond’s vision and leadership has moved the region forward at an accelerated pace that is inclusive of all three counties and seven communities.
- Serves on the DOLA Energy Impact Assistance Advisory Board, Rocky Mountain Youth Corp., a member of the El Pomar Foundation Northwest Council with a focus on child care, economic development, and the coal transition along with housing and workforce development, and finally, volunteers as a mentor for Partners of Routt County.
The Moffat County Board of County Commissioners also meets Tuesday morning. Staff reports are from Dan Miller in Road & Bridge about a culvert bid recommendation, Todd Wheeler with the Office of Emergency Management about a bid on an automated external defibrillator, Office of Develop Services where Neil Binder will discuss asphalt paving for the courthouse parking lot, and also from Rachel Bower in HR. Commissioners will hear a presentation from Zane Kessler and Tom Gray from the Colorado River Conservation District.
The Colorado AgrAbility Project is hosting a Winter Workshop from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, in the annex of the historic Routt County Courthouse in downtown Steamboat Springs. The project provides assistance to Colorado farmers and ranchers, and their families, to help them keep working despite illness and injuries. Lunch is included.
The Town of Yampa is sponsoring the 2nd annual Thanksgiving Coloring Contest. Coloring pages have been passed out to kids in the South Routt School District, or you can pick one up at Crossan’s in Yampa. That’s where you’ll turn it in by Nov. 17.
