Two college students from Northwest Colorado did very well at the state level of the “Collegiate Discussion Meet” with the Colorado Farm Bureau. Two students at CNCC in Craig made it to the final four. Tauren Farquharson is a graduate of Moffat County High School, and the current CNCC Farm Bureau President. She finished third in the collegiate tier at the meet.

“It is like a mock run through of a committee panel meeting within Colorado Farm Bureau. And it takes a lot of different skills going into it. You have to have public speaking, really good research points, but you also have to be an effective listener.”

Katelyn Dudley who went to Soroco High School is the state champion and will represent Colorado in Omaha at the National Contest.

Each student had five topics to learn about, they give a speech, and then do 25 minutes of discussion on a panel about one topic.

Colorado Farm Bureau supports Collegiate Chapters across the state. CSU, Adam’s State, Northeastern Junior College, CSU Pueblo and CNCC have Collegiate Chapters where college students can engage in current ag issues and serve their local community. Meghan Davis and Reece Melton advise the Collegiate Chapter at CNCC, which was founded last year. CSU Pueblo is also a new Chapter, founded by and Advised by Jacob Walter.
