The Yampa Valley Community Foundation is in their new building at 4th and Oak in Steamboat Springs. They hosted an Open House Thursday morning.
Tim Wohlgenant is the Executive Director of the Yampa Valley Community Foundation.
“It means a lot to us. Most of our work involves meetings. We’re realizing now that we’re in here how much time we spent arranging places to meet. Now that we have our own meeting space, we don’t need to do that.”
Wohlgenant says nonprofits can also schedule meetings in the common space in the building.
The new building is 3,400 square feet. It is geothermally heated and cooled.
“We’re one of the few commercial buildings in town that went that direction and we’re really pleased with it so far. It’s going to save us a ton of money.”

The land was donated which allowed them to build at that site, starting in July of 2022. The cost was $2.7M for construction of the building. Money was raised for it to happen and it is completely paid for along with $300-$400K for long-term building maintenance.
The Yampa Valley Community Foundation has seven staff members.
A painting of Donald Lufkin is on the upstairs wall. He set up a fund for YVCF. The plaque says, “Donald C. Lufkin, 1923-2012. A lifetime resident of the Yampa Valley. Pay it Forward – It all comes back.”
