Steamboat Skating Club wins 9 gold medals at Aspen Invitational
For immediate release – December 15, 2023
The Steamboat Skating Club sent 14 skaters to the Aspen Invitational that took place on December 2nd at the Lewis Ice Arena in Aspen, Colorado. Skaters ranged in ages from 7 to 13 and competed in levels from Basic 2 through Excel Preliminary Plus. Steamboat Skating club ended this competition with 9 event wins!
Over the last several months, skaters have been training to prepare for this competition utilizing as much ice as is available to them. A second sheet of ice is vital to current and future skaters to have more access to ice time to practice and perfect their sport. The Steamboat Skating Club, along with Steamboat Springs Youth Hockey Association, Steamboat Curling Club and the City of Steamboat Springs, is raising funds to expand the Howelsen Ice Pavilion to meet the increasing demands of ice time across the Yampa Valley.
