A Steamboat Springs Transit Regional passenger bus caught on fire Tuesday afternoon, along Highway 40, about a mile east of Hayden. The 13 passengers on board and the driver all got off safely. Hwy 40 was closed for a little while. Firefighters from West Routt Fire Department in Hayden were able to get the fire out.

Daniel Domin’s court cases have been continued to 1:15 p.m. on January 3. He is still in the Routt County Jail.
Nellie Rodriguez was also in court Tuesday. She is the woman allegedly involved in a chase that went from Wyoming, to Moffat County, through Hayden, and into Steamboat Springs before getting stopped by Steamboat Police and Routt County Sheriff’s Officers. That was in late November. Rodriquez had her bond reduced from $10,000 to $750 cash or surety in court Tuesday. Judge Erin Wilson was told that Rodriquez is from Rawlins, Wyoming. She has family there and they will come and get her if she can bond out of the Routt County Jail.
Craig City Council has chosen Andrea Camp to return as city council member filling a vacant council seat. Camp has been on Craig City Council before. She was sworn in by Municipal Judge Jay Cranmer at Tuesday night’s meeting.
It is Martin Luther King Weekend in the ‘Boat. Activities are happening through Sunday. Tonight, Steamboat faith leaders will discuss Civil Rights and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s March on Washington speech. That’s at 6:30 p.m. at the Heart of Steamboat Church.
Fewer Colorado students are dropping out of high school. The Colorado Department of Education says the graduate rate last year was at 83.1%, with 56,812 students graduating in Colorado. That’s up .08 of a percentage point, or 528 more students, from the previous year.

Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club athletes made the podium at this past weekend’s Snowboard Race to the Cup North American Series in Minnesota. Taggart Carr had a first place finish. Others finishing in the top four spots include Walker Overstake, Shikoh Sugimoto from Japan who trains with Winter Sports Club, also Mike Smith, and Sam Carpenter.
The Race to the Cup Snowboard NorAm races are in Steamboat Springs this weekend. Top FIS racers from the region are racing giant slalom at Steamboat Resort today. Thursday, it’s a head-to-head parallel GS at Howelsen Hill with the finals on Friday. Snowboard Race to the Cup Schedule

Sailor Hockey… Steamboat hosts Air Academy at 1:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon at Howelsen Ice Arena.
The Steamboat Wrestling Team is at Coal Ridge High School Thursday afternoon. SOROCO wrestlers compete at North Park Thursday. Hayden wrestlers have the West Grand Dual in Kremmling tomorrow.
Hayden Tigers host Baggs, Wyoming in basketball Thursday.
