Tickets are now on sale for the State of the Community event for Moffat County at the Moffat County Pavilion Wednesday night, Feb. 7. The link to purchase tickets is on the ShopCraigChamber.com website. Nominations are open for Business of the Year, BEST Customer Service, and Changemaker, through Jan. 15.
The deadline has been extended to Jan. 22 for the 2024 National Civics Bee competition. It is being hosted by the Craig Chamber of Commerce. Middle school students from Moffat, Rio Blanco, and Routt counties are invited to participate in the first round, which is a civics essay competition. Students can enter a 500-word essay, which is now due by Jan. 22. The top 20 will be chosen to compete in a live quiz event to test their civics knowledge in April, at the Moffat County Fairgrounds Pavilion. Local event winners will go on to compete at the state level, and possibly at the national level in Washington DC.

The Town Board of Oak Creek meets tonight. One discussion item is the consideration to amend the town’s nepotism policy. If amended, it would allow for the employment of close relatives, if approved by the Oak Creek Town Board.
It is Martin Luther King Weekend in the ‘Boat. Activities are happening through Sunday. Tonight is Trivia Night celebrating the Civil Rights Movement. That’s at 6 p.m. at Mountain Tap Brewery.
The 2024 Alpine Junior World Ski Championships Team has been announced. Those Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club athletes on the team are Tatum Grosdidier, Cooper Puckett and Jay Poulter. The Alpine Junior Worlds are in Haute-Savoie, France, Jan. 28-Feb. 3.

Routt County FFA members are headed to Denver in the morning for the National Western Stock Show. Most are from Steamboat Springs with a few SoRoCo kids as well. Peyton Baker from Hayden High School will be there with her Junior Market Goats this weekend.
