The cold and heavy snow is causing road closures. Hwy 40 from Steamboat Springs to Kremmling was closed for most of Monday. Roads have been very icy and slippery.

A car went off the road on 131 south of Toponas Monday afternoon. A Colorado State Trooper was at the scene when another car lost control and hit the trooper head on. That trooper had some minor injuries but wasn’t transported.
Check with CoTrip.org for road conditions and we will try to keep you posted as well.
The Avalanche Warning for the Northern and Central Mountains continues now through Wednesday, because of the wind and heavy snow. Travel in avalanche terrain is not recommended. Colorado Avalanche Information Center reports that more than 200 avalanches have been reported since Friday with over 50 of them triggered by backcountry travelers.
A large semi-truck is on camera, going very fast in the passing lane by a SoRoCo school bus, when the bus was stopped and the flashing red bus stop sign was out. It happened last Thursday morning on Hwy 131 just before McCoy. A car was waiting on the opposite side of the road for kids on the bus. That’s when a very large Chips Ahoy truck blew through the stop sign, on a double yellow, icy road.
Colorado State Patrol says a summons was given to a 38-year-old man from Aurora, Colorado, for “Failed to stop for a stopped school bus displaying flashing red lights.”
The video was released by the SoRoCo School District and you can see it on our website and social media.

The Cowboy Downhill brought cowboys and cowgirls from the National Western Stock Show to the slopes of Steamboat Monday for the annual event. They skied or snowboarded as best they could, some definitely better than others.
The Stampede Winner was 21-year-old Brice Patterson, a college bareback rider from Bozeman, Montana.
“Just skate and ski as fast as I can. I did not want to be behind anybody who was going to pile it up over that jump.”
Patterson says he’s good buddies with Keenan Hayes from Hayden.
The Slalom winner was Wyatt Denny from Nevada, and Haley Olsen, Miss Rodeo Arizona.
The best crash went to Miss Rodeo Washington who launched off the jump and got a bit more air than she could manage.
