Steamboat Springs artist Sue Oehme is opening a show at the Arvada Center today. That’s in Northwest Colorado. Two exhibits are on display.
Artist Proof: Print Process at Oehme Graphics
The first exhibition, Artist Proof: Print Process at Oehme Graphics, is a retrospective featuring sixteen artists who have worked with Master Printer, Sue Oehme, at her studio in Steamboat Springs. The show revolves around the concept of process, and the pieces were chosen to demonstrate the wide variety of styles and techniques used in contemporary printmaking. The exhibition was co-curated by Collin Parson and Emily King, and will also feature short process videos that were produced at the OG studio by Assistant Printer, Chachi Riesco.
Sue Oehme: Inclusions
The second exhibition is a solo show featuring the work of Sue Oehme. For this space she has created a large, site-specific wall piece, titled Confluence, which represents a vision of the joined worlds in her life, the mountains and forests with the urban cityscape. This piece is composed of hundreds of recycled, shaped paper elements which have been pinned to the wall in a map-like configuration. Also featured is a large, translucent hanging installation in the Arvada Center’s lobby, titled Leave No Trace, which is a beautiful but grave reminder of the consumerism and waste that threatens to overwhelm our world.
Oehme will be at the opening from 6-9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18 RSVP for the opening at the Arvada Center
