Lyons Corner Drug and Soda Fountain has been sold. Matt and Kelli Johnson sold it to their longtime friends, Amanda and Joshua Jones.
“They are the best answer I could ever come up with just because they know what they’re doing, they know how to run a company, and we’re friends.”
Josh Jones owns two other local pharmacies on the Front Range. He and Matt Johnson will be the pharmacists at Lyons Drug.
“The goal for us is to continue to serve the community of Steamboat. That’s why we do independent pharmacy is we want to serve the community. And at the end of the day, that’s why we’re pharmacists.”
The Lyons Drug building was built in 1908 at 9th and Lincoln. Johnson says the building is under contract to be sold. He says it is to someone from out of town, despite multiple offers from local residents to buy it.

You’ll see eight blue boxes around Craig, Maybell, and Hayden. The boxes were made by students with Hayden FFA. It’s part of the Little Library program, presented by the Rotary Club of Craig, where you “Take a Book, Leave a Book.” It’s for kids, teens, and adults. Randy Looper with Craig Rotary says it is “paying it forward” with books.
“Craig Rotary has been pushing literacy forever. That’s been our main deal. And this is just a neat way to get books out into more people’s hands. Not just the kids. Currently we do a lot of stuff with elementary school and high school but not much outside of that. So this is a way to get books in the hands of adults and people around the whole community. Take one and put a different book back.”
The Rotary Club of Craig plans to install five more this spring.
