Today (Friday, Feb. 2) is the last day for Ed Wilkinson as the Moffat County Veterans Service Officer. He is retiring. He has served in that position since 2009. Ron Epplin will lead the Moffat County Veterans office starting on Monday. Their offices are in the new Moffat County Courthouse.

The winner is… LiftUP of Routt County. This is the Food Challenge between Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue and the Steamboat Springs Police Department. It was decided that it was a tie. They were battling it out to see who could raise the most for LiftUp during the holidays. The two groups brought in 1,814 pounds of food and hygiene items as well as $1,500 in donations, with Jon Wade and The Steamboat Group getting 2,868 pounds of food more for the cause.
The Yampa Valley Choral Society is looking for singers. There are two groups. One is the Yampa Valley Singers and the other is the Steamboat Chamber singers for which you need to audition. Both groups have weekly rehearsals in the evening, some annual dues, and help selling tickets. It’s the annual Groundhog Day Dinner in Yampa on Friday, Feb. 2, at the Yampa Ladies Aid Hall. All-you-can-eat Biscuits & gravy, along with sausage, mashed potatoes, applesauce, cookies and more is $8 for adults, and $4 for kids ages five to 11. Those under four are free. You can also take it to go. The longtime traditional Groundhog Day Dinner in Yampa is sponsored by the Yampa-Egeria Historical Society.

High School Sports…
The Steamboat Sailors Hockey Team is away in Glenwood Springs tonight, but has a home game at 6:15 Saturday night. That’s at Howelsen Ice Arena against Battle Mountain.
You can watch Steamboat Sailor basketball tonight, though. The girls play Delta at 4:30 p.m. and the boys are at 6 p.m. tonight at the high school. Then the boys head to Aspen for a 2 p.m. game Saturday.
Speaking of Aspen, the Sailors Alpine Ski Team is competing there all day today. The Nordic team is at a meet against Vail Mountain on Saturday.
Moffat County…
The Moffat County Bulldogs are away tonight. Just the boys. They’re playing Aspen. But they have a pair of home games against Coal Ridge on Saturday. The girls are at 2:30 p.m. and the boys play at 4 p.m. Once again, those games tomorrow are in Craig. And you can listen to Kody May make the call on KRAI FM.
The Bulldog Boys Wrestling team is headed to Wyoming tomorrow for the Rawlins Invitational.

The Girls Basketball team plays Cedar away tonight. That’s in Denver. The boys basketball team is on the road tomorrow with a 2:30 p.m. game against Vail Mountain.
Hayden Tigers…
The high school basketball teams are playing Vail Christian tonight.
The Hayden wrestling team is in Meeker for a dual match on Saturday.
