Cookie Lockhart was surprised Saturday night, when she was honored at the Colorado Auctioneers Convention in Denver.
It was her 60th year from when she graduated from the Reisch American School of Auctioneering as the only woman in the class out of 126 men. Cookie is on the front row, on the right, fifth one from the end, wearing a mink collar.
“Oh my gosh, it was a surprise. I just didn’t realize it would be that big of a deal. Here’s all these important people and it’s all about me, and I went, ‘Oh my God.’”
Cookie had been honored 10 years ago on the 50th anniversary of her graduating from Auction School, so they surprised her again this past weekend at the convention in Denver.
They also had a picture of her being honored ten years before and they had Cookie auction it off. It brought in $3,300.
85-year-old Cookie Lockhart moved to Steamboat Springs back in 1941. She holds the honor of being the first female auctioneer inducted into the National Auctioneers Association Hall of Fame.
Cookie Lockhart will be joining Shannon Lukens as Guest DJ on Easy 94-1 from 3-7 p.m. Tuesday.
