Alpine Bank sends word to watch out for fake texts and emails. Cyber fraudsters are trying to trick you into giving your bank account information. The fake texts link back to a spoofed bank login page. Then they get your info. Legitimate financial institutions will never ask you for your password or login information. Don’t click on any links.
From the town of Oak Creek, two people are running for mayor in April. Melissa Dobbins is running against incumbent Nikki Knoebel. Four are running for three seats as Trustee on the Town Board. They are Mary Alice Page-Allen, Christopher Hedberg, Sascha Stanger, and Julie D. Gregory.
Also from Oak Creek, SoRoCo Middle School 7th grader Jett Schalnus read the Pledge of Allegiance on the floor of the House of Representatives at the State Capitol in Denver Thursday. He was at the state capitol with his mom, Kristi Schalnus, who is board president of the South Routt School District.
This Saturday, Feb. 17 is the Light up the Night Celebration at the base area of Steamboat Resort with hot air balloons. The fun starts at 5:30 p.m. This is we4ather dependent, whether the balloons will launch. If not, there will be a candlestick glow.
Today is a special match day for pets who need a home with the Routt County Humane Society. It’s hosted by SB-NY from 2-6 p.m. this afternoon, at the Boathouse, 609 Yampa Street. SB-NY will make a donation to the Humane Society with every sale.
Today is the last day for high school seniors in Moffat and Routt counties to apply for the Creative Arts Scholarship contest presented by the Colorado Crane Conservation Coalition. Submissions are for written or visual arts inspired by cranes. Students can receive up to $10,000 in scholarships.
The Pop-Up Indoor Bounce House Center is back in Hayden today through Sunday. The bounce house, slides and obstacle courses are in Exhibit Hall at the Routt County Fairgrounds. Hours are on our website.

The Steamboat Sailors host the Moffat County Bulldogs in basketball Friday night. Moffat County’s Emma Tucker is looking forward to the game.
“I’m really excited to play Steamboat because they’re our rivals and I think it’s always a good game, and they’re really aggressive and I think they’re fun to match when we’re playing basketball against them.”
Sailor Senior Brady Adams confirmed that this is the game he always looks forward to each season.
“Probably Craig, the Bulldogs, especially because they beat us in football every year. That’s our senior night this year, that will be a big game.”
Yes, it is Senior Night tonight for the Sailors. The girls have five seniors and their games starts at 5:30 p.m. The boys have six seniors and they start right after that, around 7 p.m. You can listen to that game on KTYV 105.7 Sports on FM.
The 2024 Colorado State Wrestling Championship Tournament continues today, at Ball Arena in Denver. We have live coverage on 55 Country/KRAI AM of the many wrestlers, both boys and girls, from Northwest Colorado. Times of that coverage on 55 Country today and on Saturday is on our website.

In a few other athletic activities, the Steamboat Sailor Hockey team is on the road against Crested Butte. The Sailor Alpine Ski Team is at the State Championships at Loveland. The Sailor Nordic Team has a meet against Poudre High School at the Steamboat Springs Touring Center Saturday.
The Hayden Tigers Basketball teams are at Caprock Academy tonight. The girls host Plateau Valley at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
The SoRoCo Rams Basketball teams host North Park at home tonight. (5:30 p.m. for the girls at 7 p.m. for the boys).
