A Steamboat Springs man flew home into Yampa Valley Regional Airport tonight, after being deployed in the Middle East. Staff Sgt. Dan Armstrong is a Parajumper with the 131st Rescue Squadron in California. He can’t give specifics, but he says his team was in the area when an Iranian-made drone killed three American soldiers in Jordan on Jan. 28.
“We were in the neighborhood when that event happened and my team and everybody else on that installation performed very well.”
Armstrong was greeted at the airport by his son Aslan, who is a junior at Steamboat Springs High School, and his partner, Laura. Hayden Police officers were also there along with Yampa Valley Regional Airport Manager Kevin Booth.
“It’s great to be back, though. We are consistently either in that environment or training to be in that environment. So it’s good to be home, let’s just say that.”
