Nineteen events scheduled to recruit local talent for 50 positions.
LAKEWOOD, Colorado, February 29, 2024 — The Rocky Mountain Region of the USDA Forest Service is hiring 50 entry-level, permanent seasonal wildland firefighters to work on engine, hotshot, helitack, and handcrews across forests and grasslands in Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, and Wyoming.
Eighteen in-person and one virtual event will be hosted to share position and application information beginning in March.

The Forest Service invites job seekers to meet current wildland firefighters to learn about the agency, its current wildland firefighter job opportunities, employment benefits, and to obtain application assistance.
Job information, including duty locations and application details, is available online on the National Wildland Firefighting Hiring webpage. Job seekers can apply for the 50 wildland firefighter jobs through USAJobs.gov from March 4 through March 15. Applications will be accepted from any U.S. citizen or national at least 18 years of age. Direct Hire Authority will be used to fill these positions, meaning Veterans’ Preference and traditional rating and ranking of applicants do not apply. Job seekers do not need to attend an event to apply.
