Meat-In Day is being recognized and celebrated across the state of Colorado on March 23. Meat-In Day was started by Colorado communities in 2021 in response to Governor Polis saying there would be a “Meat Out” Day, encouraging people to not eat meat.

The Moffat County Cattlemen are hosting a Meat-In Gathering from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday March 23, at Alice Pleasant Park in Downtown Craig. Mendy Rhyne with Moffat County Cattlewomen says it’s a chance to support local producers.
“We like to just basically inform the public about why agriculture is so important and what it does for our community, and what agriculture brings to the table, to Moffat County, like literally!”
FFA Alumni will be serving lunch. The Moffat County Fair Royalty team will be there. More details are on the Moffat County AgVocates Facebook page.
Meat-In Day for Routt County is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 23, at the Creek View Grill in Hayden. There will be music and a silent auction and free burgers all day courtesy of local ranchers. Those ranchers are Stanko, Monger, Yeager, Wheeler, Miller, Hogue, Belton, and Whaley. The 4th Annual Meat-In Day in Routt County is a benefit for The Veterans Center renovation project, in downtown Steamboat Springs.

The Logan County Fair and Rodeo at 1120 Pawnee Ave, in Sterling, will host Meet-In Day Saturday, March 16. It is hosted by the Colorado Cattlemen’s Association Board and local affiliate leadership from the Northeast Quarter. There will be a free-will donation of hamburgers and hot dog feed, a beer wagon from Log Cabin Liquors and Discount Liquor, numerous vendors, and a cornhole tournament.

Eastern Plains Cowbells are hosting a Meat-In Day at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 23, at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds. Join them for a burger feed and vendor fair. At-will donations will be used to further the dedication to giving back to communities while contributing to a vibrant and thriving future for the Eastern Plains of Colorado.

Meat-In BBQ from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 16, at the Chaffee County Fairgrounds (10165 CR-120, Salida, CO 81201). Burgers, drinks, chips, a $5 suggested donation, and a silent auction to benefit a high school senior pursuing a career in agriculture. The Post Office Ranch Bull Sale to follow the BBQ at 1 p.m.

Mesa County Cattlemen are hosting a Meat-In event at the Mesa County Fairgrounds from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 16, at the CW Arena. There will be free hamburgers, BBQ vendors, chicken, and tacos. More activities are planned this year including wineries, breweries, live music, therapy animals, carriage rides, bouncy houses, face painting and so much more.
For Colorado’s 2024 Meat-In Day, Holy Cross Cattlemen’s Assoc. (HCCA) and Roaring Fork Valley Co-op will be taking donations for Beef Sticks for Backpacks. They will be donating all money from each $5 donation to Beef Sticks for Backpacks. In 2023, the Co-op matched the funds collected and together with HCCA donated $1,000 from the March promotion.
