The Cook Ford dealership in Craig is closing April 30. The owners of the land that the building sits on have put it up for sale. The 12 employees at Cook Ford were notified Friday.
Scott Cook is the president of Cook Chevrolet, Subaru, and Ford. He says most of those employees will be able to work at Cook Chevrolet, which is almost across the street, on Victory Way.
“We’ve got a lot of great employees. We’ve got a lot of employees who have been with us 15+ years, which is unusual in the car business. We have a lot of good people and we do our best to keep them. A lot of good customers also.”
Cook says the Ford employees’ benefits and pay will stay the same. Ford warranty work can no longer be done at the Cook dealership unless it is for an extended warranty or recall.

Residents of Craig packed council chambers Tuesday night, to express their concerns about proposed new high-density workforce housing units in the Woodbury Park area. Almost everyone who got up to speak was asking City Council to vote no on the proposed complex. Some wore a “Save the Woodbury Sports Complex” T-shirts. One project organizer said this gives the city new housing to recruit new businesses to move to Craig. And he reminded council that they have already received grants for the housing project. He said, “We don’t live here but we can definitely make this a better place to recruit businesses because that’s what we do.”
Residents also asked if there is another space in Moffat County where the apartment complex could go instead of Woodbury Park.
A final comment was, “We’re not saying don’t build. We’re saying the location is wrong.”
Mayor Chris Nichols ended the meeting saying Council will take everything to heart.
Victory Motors in Craig held an AgRally Tuesday, in celebration of Agriculture Appreciation Week. Here’s Kody May who helped organize the AgRally.
“It’s the foundation of our community that goes back with a lot of people’s heritage for 100 years and it’s not going anywhere.”
The AgRally in Moffat County was broadcast nationally on RFD-TV and The Cowboy Channel.
