Letters from ranchers and producers are being sent to Colorado Parks and Wildlife officials and Governor Polis. These letters are asking for the immediate lethal removal of the wolves that are killing cattle in Grand and Jackson counties. These are letters from stockgrower associations in Grand, Jackson, and Larimer counties, also the Colorado Wool Growers, Middle Park Cowbelles, and the Grand County Sheriff.
Wade Allnut is a Jackson County rancher and past president of the North Park Stock Growers. This is a picture of a new calf on his ranch this evening.
“We just decided that given the current chain of events, now was the time to make a little noise, because it’s time to be heard.”
Two wolves in Jackson County are responsible for 20 deaths of cattle, sheep, and dogs. Since the beginning of April, a newborn calf and four yearlings have been killed by two different wolves in Grand County. Another calf was killed and another attacked in Jackson County.
Middle Park Stockgrowers in Grand County have sent two letters to CPW and the Governor in the past week, saying, “The urgency of this situation demands swift and decisive action.”
As of Monday night, Grand County Commissioner Merrit Linke had not heard back from Colorado Parks and Wildlife or Department of Natural Resources.
But this is a screen shot from Shelby Wieman, the press secretary for Governor Polis, that was on Channel 2 News in Denver.

The Veterans Center still needs to raise just over $150,000 ($154,794) to reach their goal. Donations are still being accepted through the Yampa Valley Community Foundation.
