Bond has been set at $5,000 for a 37-year-old Steamboat Springs man who turned himself in Monday morning for an alleged stabbing over the weekend. Erlin Galeano-Torrez is currently on probation for two separate alcohol-related driving offenses. Bond conditions, if he does bond out, include no alcohol, and random testing. There is a mandatory protection order in place for the alleged victim, who is a 31-year-old man who drove himself to the hospital after the stabbing incident, which happened in the 1800 block of Central Park Drive early Sunday morning. Steamboat Springs Police say the victim and suspect know each other and there is no threat to the community.
Steamboat Springs Police adds, “All persons accused of crimes are presumed innocent until and unless their guilt is established beyond a reasonable doubt in court.”
The Post Office has sent an update on the ending of the P.O. Boxes on the 80488 side of the post office in Steamboat Springs. There are about 1,500 customers that will be moved from the 80488 side to the 80477 side. The change is being made so the Post Office can accommodate the expansion of deliveries.
They hope to have the switch done by the beginning of summer.
James Boxrud with the corporate office out Denver says all postal customers on the 80488 side have received a notice in their P.O. Box that they have to move.
Boxrud says there have been some longer lines in the lobby because of this change so they have asked for help from the district office with the front counter.
He says that some customers have been frustrated, but he adds, “but once we explain the reasoning, our customers seem to understand the change.”
Boxrud added, “We appreciate the community’s patience as we get through this period of change.”
