An anonymous report about school safety has led to the arrest of a Steamboat Springs juvenile Wednesday, on two felony charges. Steamboat Springs Police collaborated with the Steamboat Springs School District, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the 14th Judicial District and local mental health resources to determine that there was a credible threat. The juvenile was taken into custody. No other details as to the identity or the school are being released. This person is no longer a threat to the community. A Routt County jury convicted 56-year-old Franklin Montgomery Wednesday. It was his fourth conviction for an alcohol-related driving offense. The Steamboat Springs man faces up to six years in the state penitentiary. Sentencing is July 2.

In a quick post office update, the corporate office out of Denver has confirmed that all people with a P.O. Box on the 80488 side have received notices that they have to change their box number and move to the 80477 side. Postal officials say a second round of notices will be sent out this week.
On that note, if you have to change your P.O. Box, make sure you change your voter registration. Routt County Clerk Jenny Thomas says it is very easy to go online to update your voter registration information. Go to GoVoteColorado.gov

The new boat ramp to access the Yampa River at Loudy Simpson Park is ready to go. Finishing touches to the parking lot and landscaping are still being done. The boat ramp is part of the Yampa River Corridor Project which includes the Craig Whitewater Park and riverside park to be finished by spring of next year.
The water is filling back up in the Black Sulphur Spring near the library in Steamboat Springs. It was way down on April 17. Some thought it might have been from when the new railroad ties went into the tracks there. Either way, the historic spring is bubbling and gurgling, and looks to be getting back to normal.

Two SoRoCo High School seniors celebrated their upcoming college plans. Larhae Whaley will be wrestling at Dickinson State in North Dakota in the fall. Whaley made the podium all four years in the Colorado State Wrestling Championships.
“My big decision was I didn’t want to regret not wrestling after high school, and when the opportunity presented itself, I guess I just kind of pursued it. And then at Dickinson it had what I wanted academically which is to go for ag education so it all just worked out.”
Olivia Rossi will attend Butler Community College in Kansas where she will be on the Collegiate Livestock Judging Team.
“I’ve always known that I wanted to compete on a Collegiate Livestock Judging Team since I joined the Routt County 4H Livestock Judging program when I was 10. so it’s really a dream come true and I’m really excited for the opportunity to continue out with my last couple years with judging.”
The Senior Class of 2024 gathered in the commons at SoRoCo for a group picture, proudly displaying their college choices.
