SOROCO welcomes a new elementary school principal for 2024-2025 academic year
South Routt School District is excited to welcome Ashley Johnston as the new elementary school principal starting in the 2024-2025 academic year. Johnston is coming from Moffat County School District where she is currently the principal at Sandrock Elementary School.
She is described as collaborative, a team player, and highly driven but willing and able to bring people along as part of the team.
When searching for the elementary principal, SOROCO staff wanted a team player and collaborator, someone who could bring staff together and hold people accountable. Additionally, the staff wanted someone who understood and embraced the sense of community South Routt Elementary embodies and would celebrate those attributes. SOROCO is excited to see how Johnston’s collaborative, team approach and experience round out the strong elementary staff. Statement from Dr. Brad Meeks, Interim Superintendent, Moffat County School District; May 2, 2024.
Moffat County School District RE-1
Dear Moffat County School District community,
I’m sad to have to announce that Sandrock Elementary principal Ashley Johnston has submitted her resignation. Mrs. Johnston has been a wonderful principal, educator and administrator for this district and for the Sandrock family. She has accepted an exciting offer for her family in another district, and, though we will miss her, we are excited for her future prospects.
Mrs. Johnston joined the Sandrock team at a very challenging time, moving her family to Craig to take over as principal in January of 2023. Sandrock desperately needed her leadership and her passion, and she brought a great deal of both, working tirelessly to put the school in a great place as she departs.
Moffat County will miss the Johnstons very much-the Sandrock community most of all. We thank Mrs. Johnston for her strong and vital service in our district and we are sad to see her go.
Mrs. Johnston will finish out the school year and will work through the end of June. The district will post the position as soon as possible. We look forward to interviewing and hiring a great candidate to keep the momentum going at Sandrock Elementary.
Sincerely,
Dr. Brad Meeks
Interim Superintendent, Moffat County School District
