In an update on sidewalk work downtown…

Concrete rehabilitation work continues on the sidewalks and ramps in downtown Steamboat Springs. Today, there will be single-lane and median closures from 9th to 11th Streets.

Today and Friday will also have single-lane and median closures from 7th Street to 9th Street.

Working hours in Steamboat Springs are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Work is expected to be completed in late June.

The North Yampa Sidewalk Project continues in downtown Craig today. Work is being done between 6th and 9th Streets. No street parking during construction.

Eighth Street at Tucker Street in Craig is closed to through traffic through May 17.

For questions, call the City of Craig Road & Bridge Department. (970-824-4463)

Don’t let the road construction frustrate you. Colorado ranks fifth in the country for road rage, behind Louisiana, New Mexico, and Montana. Colorado State Patrol says almost 62% of crashes last year were because of aggressive or careless driving. CSP also says that a high percentage of road rage incidents in the state involve a gun. Armed road range incidents in Colorado are nearly double the national average.

The U.S. Postal Service has a campaign to help “Stamp Out Hunger.” It’s this Saturday, May 11. Letter carriers, sponsors, and volunteers are joining 10,000 communities nationwide for the 32nd annual food drive. Leave non-perishable food donations in a bag near your mailbox or cluster box, or at the post office. Food collected will be given to local churches, food banks and food pantries. Here’s U.S. Postmaster Louis DeJoy.

“On Saturday, May 11, 2024, our letter carriers will collect food donations in 10,000 cities and towns, in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and Guam.”
