The U.S. Postal Service has a campaign to help “Stamp Out Hunger.” It’s this Saturday, May 11. Letter carriers, sponsors, and volunteers and joining 10,000 communities nationwide for the 32nd annual food drive. Leave non-perishable food donations in a bag near your mailbox or cluster box, or at the post office. Food collected will be given to local churches, food banks and food pantries, in Steamboat Springs and Craig.

Here’s U.S. Postmaster Louis DeJoy.

“On Saturday, May 11, 2024, our letter carriers will collect food donations in 10,000 cities and towns, in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and Guam.”

A press release says, “While all non-perishable donations are welcome, foods that are high in protein such as canned tuna, salmon, beans and peanut butter are most needed. Canned fruits and vegetables, whole grain, low sugar cereals, macaroni and cheese dinners and 100% fruit juice also top the list of most needed items.”
