In an update on sidewalk work downtown…
Concert rehabilitation work continues on the sidewalks and ramps in downtown Steamboat Springs. Today will have single-lane and median closures from 7th Street to 9th Street. Working hours in Steamboat Springs are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Work is expected to be completed in late June.
Today wraps up the first week of work on the North Yampa Sidewalk Project in downtown Craig. Work is being done between 6th and 9th. No street parking during construction.
Eighth Street at Tucker Street in Craig is closed to through traffic through May 17.

In events this weekend…
Colorado Northwestern Community College is hosting graduation ceremonies. On Friday, it’s the pinning for nursing students, also National Park Ranger completion and Aviation Wing ceremonies. That’s at 6 p.m. Friday in the Moffat County Pavilion on the fairgrounds in Craig. Then Saturday is the Dental Hygiene pinning and commencement for all other graduates. That’s at 2 p.m. in the Hefley Gym on the Rangely campus.
Prom is Saturday night for students at Steamboat Springs High School and Hayden High School.

Clean-Up Days for Craig and Moffat County are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 11, at the north end of City Park in Craig. This is for tires, appliances, batteries and E-Waste. There are some fees for the tires and electronics. A free landfill voucher is also available at the Moffat County Courthouse. It’s good during the month of May and June for Craig and Moffat County residents.
The Hayden Hoedown is Saturday, May 11, in honor of Historic Preservation Month. It’s a community barn dance Saturday night with live music by the Little Moon Travelers. Instruction starts at 6:30 p.m. and the music begins at 7:30 p.m. There is a suggested donation of $15. The Hayden Hoedown is brought to you by Historic Routt County, the Historic Hayden Granary, and the Hayden Heritage Center.
Routt County Riders and the Routt County Fatherhood Program are offering a Bike Mechanic Mini-Workshop series for dads today. It’s at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 11. Dans can bring the kids and family bikes to work on together. Lunch is included. The workshops are free and Spanish interpretation will be available. Routt County Humane Society will be in Hayden from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday for low-cost vaccinations and cat spay/neuter clinics. That’s in Dry Creek Park in Hayden. No appointment is necessary for vaccination, but call the Routt County Humane Society to make an appointment for getting your pet spayed or neutered. (970-457-8002)

There is a big game in Steamboat Springs tonight as the #3 seed Steamboat Sailors Boys Lacrosse team hosts a playoff game against (Lutheran or Resurrection Christian) at 5:30 p.m. at Gardner Field. Listen on KTYV 105.7 Sports on FM and watch through our website.
The Steamboat Sailors Baseball Team hosts a doubleheader at 11 a.m. on Saturday, against Summit High School. Matt Anaya is the head coach.
“The team looks good this year. We’re putting in some work. We’ve got a lot of returns, a lot of underclassmen, two seniors.”

The Steamboat Sailors High School Girls Tennis Team has six players at the state championships in Colorado Springs.

The Sailors Track and Field team has a meet in Longmont and West Grand on Friday, May 10.
The Moffat County Track and Field Team is competing in Grand Junction Friday and Saturday. Zeke Alcantar is a senior.
“The seniors… they’re a great group of kids and I love that I’m in a class with them. The team looks amazing and hopefully we can win state this year.”
The Hayden Tigers Track Team has a meet at West Grand on Friday.
The Soroco Rams are also at the West Grand Invitational on Friday and an Invitational at Grand Valley on Saturday.
