Check your Voter Registration at GoVoteColorado.com
County Clerk & Recorder offices in both Moffat County and Routt County are sending out reminders to make sure your mailing address is current and up-to-date. This means if you have moved out of the county or state, or if you got married, or if you want to change your political party.
Ballots will be mailed to active registered Democrats, Republicans, and Unaffiliated voters beginning June 3 for the statewide primary election. You can confirm your ballot mailing address or your party affiliation through the Colorado Secretary of State’s office.
This is also where you can update your registration if you have moved out of Moffat County or Routt County.
If you have moved out of state, don’t just unsubscribe. Keep the county voter lists accurate by withdrawing your Colorado registration and then registering in your new state.
IMPORTANT DATES
June 3
- Ballots mailed to eligible Democrats, Republicans, and Unaffiliated voters.
- Deadline to switch party affiliation if you want to vote in a different primary (sooner is better though!)
June 17
- Last day to register and still be sent a ballot in the mail.
- Last recommended date to return your ballot by mail. Otherwise, use the 24-hour drop box.
Primary Elections and How They Work in Colorado
Primaries are elections that political parties use to select candidates for a general election. This means that the Democratic Party and the Republican Party are both running a primary election at the same time. After the primary election, the party’s candidates that won their respective party’s primary will run against each other in the general election that November.
Voting in the June Primary
- The Statewide Primary is June 25 and ballots begin to mail June 3.
- Registered Democrats will receive only the Democratic Party ballot.
- Registered Republicans will receive only the Republican Party ballot.
- Ballots are printed in early May and some candidates may drop out but still be listed on the ballot.
- No minor party (Green, Libertarian, No Labels, etc.) is holding a primary.
- June 3 is the deadline to switch party affiliation if you want to vote in a different primary. However, due to mailing deadlines, we recommend changing your party affiliation earlier in order to receive the correct ballot.
- By law, unaffiliated voters will be mailed both major party (Dem and Rep) ballots but can only vote and return one ballot. See Unaffiliated FAQ for more details.
