Colorado Governor Jared Polis spent Wednesday afternoon in northwest Colorado, signing bills from local legislators including Senator Dylan Roberts, Representative Meghan Lukens, and Speaker of the House Julie McCluskie.
The first bill signed was on the outside deck of Colorado Mountain College in Steamboat Springs, where Governor Polis was first introduced by CMC President and CEO Carrie Besnette Hauser. It was the Water Conservation Measures Bill, from the Colorado River Drought Task Force with bipartisan support. Here’s Senator Roberts.

A second bill supported graywater and water reuse in residential buildings.

Then it was off to Hayden and Bar-U-Eat for the Reauthorization of the Rural Jump-Start Program bill.

A second bill was for programs for the Development of Child Care facilities.
- HB24-1237– Programs for the Development of Child Care Facilities, sponsored by Representatives Mary Bradfield and Meghan Lukens, and Senators Janice Marchman and Janice Rich.
A large group of local leaders and residents was waiting for the Governor and local legislators in Craig at the Marcia Pullman car. The bill signed was the Rail & Coal Transition Community Economic Measures bill. The bill is to provide opportunities for economic diversification and keeping jobs within communities as coal plants phase out.
